Belmont Forum and FACCE-JPI: Food Security and Land-use Change

The ESRC with NERC (Lead Council) and BBSRC are participating in the Belmont Forum and FACCE-JPI: Food Security and Land Use Change Call.

In July 2013 a joint funding call of approximately €10.5 million was launched between the Belmont Forum and the Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change Joint Programming Initiative (FACCE-JPI), aimed at supporting excellent research on the theme of Food Security and Land-use Change.

The coming decades will see substantial growth in food demand and change in diet type. They will also see global and regional food provision becoming increasingly subject to environmental, private and political pressures. Even today, about one billion people do not have access to sufficient calories, while a further billion do not have access to a balanced diet.

Proposals are invited to this joint funding call between the Belmont Forum and the Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change Joint Programming Initiative (FACCE-JPI), on the theme of Food Security and Land-use Change.

The closing date is 30 September 2013

Note: The UK National annex on the NERC Belmont Forum and FACCE-JPI: Food Security and Land-use Change webpage was updated on 29 August to reflect the fact that ESRCs policy of funding international Co-Investigators does not apply to this Call.
